Meet Mrs. Allen-Ruiz

Hi Friends!

My name is Mrs. Allen-Ruiz and I am so excited to share my classroom with you this year!!

I come from a big family. I have 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Even though my dad was is the Army, we didn’t moved around a lot. I was born in Seoul, S. Korea and moved to San Antonio when I was little. We lived in Vicenza, Italy and returned to San Antonio and Fort Sam Houston. San Antonio has always been home.

I started my teaching career in Austin ISD after graduating from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) with a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I taught Kindergarten in Austin for 3 years and then moved back to San Antonio and have been at Fort Sam Houston ISD for the past 21 years.

In addition to being a teacher, I’m a mom and a wife. You may see my husband around school. Everybody calls him Mr. AJ. He fixes things around the school and sometimes drives the bus. I also get to be the mom of a sweet little boy.

I have lots of favorites!! I LOVE…. hot dogs, pickles, pink, glitter, reading, shopping, playing video games (the easy ones), cooking, crafting, baking, decorating, pizza, collecting snowpeople and ladybugs, hamburgers, science experiments, did I mention glitter?, playing with my son, listening to music, fried chicken, plastic tubs, limes, baskets, hydrangeas (a type of flower) kitchen gadgets, the beach, baskets, swimming, chips and dip, eating out with family and/or friends, french fries, salsa, telling jokes, watching TV and singing to the radio. I think I got them all but… sometimes my favorites change.
