We Need You - Volunteer Today!
Volunteers are a vital part of our school community and offer many advantages to student learning and development. We enjoy having strong parental involvement on our campus and encourage you to volunteer your talents. For the safety and security of our scholars, we must have a Volunteer Background Check completed prior to service. Click HERE to download a copy. We encourage all interested members to complete the application prior to the school year or activity to ensure sufficient time for processing and approval.

Help Us Get a $25,000 Playground Makeover!

Our school has joined the My Coke Rewards for Schools program. That means by drinking the Coca-Cola products your family already enjoys, you can get My Coke Rewards points and donate them to our school. My Coke Rewards for Schools is an easy way for parents, friends and others in the community to support our school by donating My Coke Rewards points. Points can be found on hundreds of different packages, including DASANI®, Sprite®, Minute Maid®, POWERADE ION4® and more. The more donations we get — the more rewards we earn that will help our students learn, grow and have fun. Your donations will go towards rewards like physical education equipment, art supplies, and educational resources that help our students learn, play and have fun.

Itʼs easy to donate:
  1. Purchase your favorite Coca-Cola products to get codes (theyʼre on hundreds of different packages, including DASANI®, Sprite®, Minute Maid®, POWERADE ION4® and more.)
  2. Go to My Coke Rewards for School (register if you arenʼt a member).
  3. Enter your code(s)
Check out My Coke Rewards for School for more information and start turning My Coke Rewards points into rewards for our school. If you have any questions, please email the FSHE's My Coke Rewards for School Coordinator, Melanie Morgan, at mmorgan@fshisd.net

Checking In & Picking Up Students

As started in the 2009-2010 school year, we will continue with the streamlined checking in and picking up process for students. In order to pick up your child or check them in you must have a VALID STATE-ISSUED IDIt will not accept a CAC card, dependent, or retired military ID. The system is in place in most San Antonio area school districts and allows a quick check of the ID through a database and allows for personalization of the visitor pass to be printed (when applicable). This was put in place for the protection and safety of all of our students. We thank you for your understanding and support.

Free Technology Training Online!
The Fort Sam Houston ISD  recently purchased a site license with Atomic Learning, an online resource for technology video tutorials. The service provides "as needed" access to over 40,000 video tutorials covering over 120 software applications. In addition to being a great resource for students and teachers, all FSHISD parents can also access the site! To obtain your free username and password, email our Director of Instructional Technology, Dr. Roland Rios, at rrios@fshisd.net. Please supply your name and your child's name and school. From the Principal

We exist to serve the military child……

Each month at Fort Sam Houston Elementary, we provide a variety of activities to support the students and families of our learning organization.  We do our best to advertise these opportunities so that each of you can attend and reap the benefits they provide to you and your family.  Because many of you are new to our family this school year, we thought we would highlight some of the opportunities that are available to you.

Parent to Parent workshops are provided by the Military Child Education Coalition’s Parent to Parent representatives.  These workshops give great insight into common needs associated with being military families.  Subject matter includes information regarding transitions, taking advantage of volunteer opportunities, and supporting the academic needs of your child.  Parent to Parent representatives also provide workshops at Pastries with the Principal opportunities as scheduled.

Cougar Connection workshops are sponsored by the Parent Teacher Organization.  These workshops are facilitated by teachers and staff of Fort Sam Houston Elementary.  Topics include methods to support academic and social development of your child.

These opportunities are offered in conjunction with the start of the school day or during student lunch times.  We believe that this will afford you the opportunity to gain insight on how your child starts his or her day or the opportunity to have lunch with your child or children on days you attend lunch hour presentations.

Workshops are advertised on the campus and district web pages, in flyers, and in student take home folders, or agendas.  We hope you will join us for breakfast or take advantage of the best lunch provided on the installation.

Please let us know how we can further assist you as a member of this great learning community
