Hello San Antonio Year 2 Monarch Heroes!
As spring is swiftly approaching, this is a good time to think about community events – workdays and/or showcases that involve your neighborhood, local businesses, families, and friends! We will soon ask you for the dates of your spring campus events. Additionally, as noted in your grant application, we will be hosting a spring Monarch Heroes showcase and you will be asked to table at this event with your students, showcasing all of your amazing efforts to help the monarch butterfly. See below for information on our showcase in Austin – please save the date now! More details will come out in the coming months:
Event: San Antonio Student Sustainability Showcase (co-hosted with EcoRise)
Date: Friday, May 10th, 2019
Time: 5:30pm – 7:00pm, with set-up beginning at 5:00pm
Location: Family Adventure Garden, San Antonio Botanical Gardens *Admission will be free for you, your students, and the students’ family members!
Citizen Science and Reminder: Milkweed propagation time!
This is also a little reminder to gather your supplies and set your milkweed in the fridge for cold stratification and to create wildflower seeds into seedballs!
For citizen science, this is a good opportunity to review your options to participate as citizen scientists for the monarch butterfly. Whether you are measuring the growth of milkweed or recording monarch sightings on Journey North, this is an incredible opportunity to practice and contribute to real scientific research!
Thanks all and have a lovely day!
