A special message for our families:
Hello everyone! I hope these strange times we find ourselves in find you all doing well as you keep your family safe and healthy. Please know that we at the Elementary school are all working hard to see that this newest way of doing things go as smoothly as possible for all of us. It's wonderful to have our students back in the building closing the learning gaps and learning what they need for today. Slowly our parents are participating in activities that are bringing them back on campus as well. We've talked to many of you and everyone seems to be handling it as well as can be expected. Please know that you can always reach me at my email and I will get back in touch with you. My email is: firstname.lastname@example.org When you are in touch with your teachers and can always reach me through them as well.
There is so much information out there to help us all get through this situation, but probably the most important thing you and your students need to do is to keep up a routine. This is good advice when there is a deployment and certainly good advice now. Kids thrive on routine. As the teachers start setting up your student's class schedule, help him/her understand this routine and it will become easier to establish. Getting up at a certain time everyday, eating breakfast at the same time, doing homework at an established time each day lets kids know what their expectations will be. This will be very important if your student was a virtual student for part or all of last year.
Well, take care, keep safe, and know I am here for you. Let me know if I can be of any help to you, Linda Reed
Welcome to Ft. Sam Houston Elementary! I look forward to meeting you and your family. We hope that you enjoy your time here at Ft. Sam Houston Elementary and we will be here in the Counseling department to help in any way we can. I look forward to creating caring relationships with the students and their families. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if I can help you here at school.
A Little about me:
I have had the pleasure of working at Ft. Sam Houston Elementary since 1996! I worked as a 3/4 multi-age and 4th grade teacher for eight years and have been a counselor for 18 years.
My husband retired from the Air Force after 27 years and we have 3 daughters. Our family all live here in Texas so we were very glad to get back to Texas and retire here. Getting to work with students of military families is very rewarding for me as I have spent my life as a part of the military family.
I enjoy working with our students and see them grow and develop into life long learners with outstanding character that will help them succeed in life.
“Courage. Kindness. Friendship. Character. These are the qualities that define us as human beings, and propel us, on occasion, to greatness.”
