Student Council

What is Student Council???

This organization is comprised of two student representatives from each 4th and 5th grade class. We conduct service projects and continuously strive to make our campus a better place. Student Council members commit to active participation in STUCO and to maintaining leadership standards.  Would you  like to participate?? Please read the following excerpt from our FSHES Student Council Constitution for more information:

 

Article Four- Qualifications

Section 1: Any student who wishes to be a member of the Council shall:

-maintain grades of A’s and B’s on every report card

-maintain a grade of E or S  in citizenship on every report card

-complete all homework on time

-complete all classwork  on time

-strive to be well organized

-work well with others

-maintain high attendance at school

-be punctual to school, class and meetings

 

Article Five- Homeroom Representatives

Each 4th and 5th grade classroom shall have two elected Council representatives.

 Section 1:  Running Process

-Any student who wishes to be considered for the Council must notify their homeroom teacher. The homeroom teacher will evaluate the student's grades and behavior within the classroom.

-Permission slips and campaign posters must be turned in by the designated due date.

 

Section 2: Terms of Office

The term of office will be the school year for which the homeroom representative was elected. In the event that the elected official is unable to fulfill his or her role to which they were elected, they will be dismissed.

 

IMPORTANT DATES (2023-2024 School Year)

 

*Monday, August 28th: All permission slips are due to homeroom teachers by 8am. (Sorry, no late entries.) Permission slips can be obtained from the 4th and 5th grade teachers.

 

*August 28-Sept 1  : Student Speeches (1 minute) and Class Elections:

Class elections will take place by Friday, September 1st, after all of the speeches have been delivered. Homerooom teacher will determine the exact voting date for their class. Elected representatives’ names will be announced by Wednesday,September 6th. Please do not send in any campaign buttons, stickers or treats.

 

September 1st: Final day to vote for class representatives.

  (2 representatives will be elected from each 4th and 5th grade room.) ***** This election is only for representatives. Later,  StuCo officers will be elected from our pool of class representatives.

 

*September 8th:  First Student Council Meeting:   We will meet in room 4 from 1:30-2:15.
