Meet Mrs. Chandler
Welcome FSHE Families!
My name is Amy Chandler, and I am thrilled to be part of the Fort Sam Houston Elementary community!
This is my 24th year in education, and I’ve had the privilege of serving as a classroom teacher, campus GT teacher, administrative intern, and district GT coordinator. This year, I am excited to serve as both the Campus GT Coordinator and GT Teacher, as well as the Emergent Bilingual (EB) Lead Teacher. I have worked in gifted education for over 15 years and truly enjoy challenging students to think deeply, grow academically, and reach their full potential.
I am a proud graduate of Texas State University, where I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education—Go Bobcats! 🐾 I also studied at Schreiner University, where I earned my principal certification. I previously taught in Hays CISD (Kyle, TX) and North East ISD, right down the road.
My certifications include:
- Elementary Self-Contained (1st-8th)
- Elementary Music (1st-8th)
- Gifted & Talented Supplemental
- English as a Second Language (ESL) Supplemental
- Principal as an Instructional Leader (K-12)
When I’m not at school, you can usually find me enjoying time with my family. I have two boys - one is a high school sophomore, and the other just graduated and started college. My husband of 20 years is a SA firefighter. Our family life is always busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
I love to travel, especially to the coast, which is one of our family’s favorite destinations. In my free time, I enjoy reading, taking walks, cooking, and shopping.
A few of my favorites:
- Coffee and Diet Coke
- Mexican food
- Reading a good book
- Shopping at Target, Amazon, and H-E-B
- Quick restaurant stops: Chipotle, Chick-fil-A, Cabo Bob’s, and Order Up!
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I’m looking forward to a fantastic year and can’t wait to partner with you to support our students! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
