Welcome!

Hello FSHE Families!  My name is Amy Chandler, and I’m thrilled to be part of the Fort Sam Houston Elementary community!

This is my 24th year in education, during which I have had the joy of serving as a classroom teacher, campus G/T teacher, administrative intern, and district G/T coordinator. This year, I am serving as both the campus G/T coordinator and teacher, as well as the Emergent Bilingual (EB) Lead Teacher. I’ve been in gifted education for over 15 years and love challenging students to reach their full potential.

When I’m not at school, you can usually find me enjoying time with my family. I have two boys - one is a high school sophomore, and the other just graduated and is starting college this fall. My husband of 20 years is a firefighter, so our family life is always busy - but I wouldn’t have it any other way! 

I love to travel, and one of my family’s favorite places to visit is the coast. In my free time, I also enjoy reading a good book, going for walks, or shopping. Here are few of my favorite things: coffee, Diet Coke, Mexican food, and shopping at Target, Amazon, or HEB. Some of my favorite quick restaurants are Chipotle, Chick-fil-A, Cabo Bob’s, Longhorn Café, and Order Up! Yum!
