Your role as a parent

You are your child's first teacher. You know your child best. Be involved. Help your child's teacher with insights.

Do not be afraid to ask what is going on with your child's education.  Here are some frequently asked questions about RtI . . .

What universal screener is given to identify students who need extra help?  Istation

Who will be providing intervention services for my child? The classroom teacher will provide intervention services for your child.  If staff is available to give extra support in the classroom it too will be provided.

How long will you try an intervention before determining whether o not my child is making adequate progress? Not all students have the same needs. Therefore, each student is considered and a time frame is given for the intervention based on the child's weakness.

How often will you assess my child's progress?  Your child's progress is taken three times during the school year. Beginning, middle and end of year.  In the classroom and depending on your child's need a monthly assessment is given.

These are just a few of the questions that arise.  As mentioned before, we encourage you to ask the classroom teacher or the RtI Coordinator.
