The DoSeum STEM Teacher Cohort is a year-long professional development opportunity for educators like no other. The elite few who are selected receive over 100 CPE hours, research-based curriculum resources, and new methods for teaching STEM in their classrooms. Our very own, Mrs. Amanda Hawthorne, 3rd grade teacher at Fort Sam Houston Elementary School has been selected to represent Fort Sam Houston ISD as a member of the DoSeum STEM Teacher Cohort. As a selected participant, Mrs. Hawthorne will transform her method of teaching STEM by implementing units from the Engineering is Elementary (EiE) curriculum developed by the Boston Museum of Science. She will learn through an on-site practicum at The DoSeum, engaging with the museum’s education staff, and forming a collegial environment with educators from across the city. Mrs. Hawthorne will be able to apply the new curriculum and pedagogies to her students as well as share her new learning to strengthen and impact all learning environments at FSHE!
