Attention:
All FSHISD Employees Fort Sam Houston ISD Employee data exposed in Frontline Education Security Incident -

As a follow-up to our previous communication regarding the Frontline Education security incident, some employees are now receiving individual notification emails from Frontline Education regarding information that was impacted.
These emails are legitimate and include a Notice of Data Breach along with information about enrolling in 24 months of complimentary TransUnion credit monitoring. The notice identifies the specific type of personal information impacted and provides enrollment instructions, an activation code, and an enrollment deadline.
If you receive one of these notifications, please review it carefully and follow the instructions provided if you choose to enroll in the credit monitoring service. The notification indicates that enrollment must be completed by January 31, 2027.
Please continue to remain vigilant for phishing attempts. Be cautious of unexpected messages or requests asking you to verify personal, account, or password information. If you are uncertain about a message, do not provide sensitive information until you have verified that the communication is legitimate.
For questions about the cybersecurity event or the TransUnion services described in the notice, Frontline directs recipients to the TransUnion call center at 1-800-759-7279, available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time, excluding major U.S. holidays.

On Oct. 13, 2026, Fort Sam Houston ISD was notified by Frontline Education that Frontline experienced a data security incident on Aug. 14, 2026, which exposed district employee and job applicant information. Protecting your personal information is a top priority for Fort Sam Houston ISD, and we understand that news of this event brings understandable concern.
According to Frontline, they discovered and remediated the incident on Aug. 15, 2026. Following a period of data validation, the impacted population for Fort Sam Houston Independent School District is 412 employees. The information exposed included employee Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, passport numbers, physical addresses, and email addresses.
Key Risks and Impact to FSHISD Staff
  • System Security: The main risk is targeted fraud against our staff, not an attack on district systems. Frontline is a hosted vendor, so FSHISD networks were not breached.
  • Identity Theft: A SSN with a name and address is enough to open credit in an employee's name. Credit monitoring detects this activity, while a credit freeze actively prevents it.
  • Phishing: Expect fake emails and calls posing as Frontline, TransUnion, Cyberscout, or FSHISD HR asking staff to "verify" information. Because the legitimate notice may also look unusual, fraudulent messages may easily slip through.
  • Payroll Diversion: Attackers commonly impersonate employees to the Business Office to change direct deposit details. Exposed SSNs and addresses make these requests much more convincing. However, FSHISD in person protocols for account changes will remain in place to ensure account security.
  • Account Takeover: Work email addresses were exposed, so password-guessing and credential phishing attempts against @fshisd.net accounts will likely increase. Be vigilant with your online accounts and communication.
