Our Purpose and Principles

At the heart of our organization lies a commitment to purpose, guided by a clear mission, an inspiring vision for the future, and core values that define who we are and drive everything we do.

Fort Sam Houston Elementary School was originally constructed as an 18-room building with funds provided by Public Law 815. The school opened in September 1952 with an enrollment of 385 students in grades one to six. Today, the school houses approximately 750 students in Early Childhood through fifth grade. The school building has since been renovated and expanded.

We Need You - Volunteer Today!

Volunteers are a vital part of our school community and offer many advantages to student learning and development. We enjoy having strong parental involvement on our campus and encourage you to volunteer your talents. For the safety and security of our scholars, we must have a Volunteer Background Check completed prior to service. We encourage all interested members to complete the application prior to the school year or activity to ensure sufficient time for processing and approval.

Title I is a federal program that provides additional resources and support to help all students achieve academic success. A key component of Title I is building strong partnerships between schools and families through meaningful engagement opportunities. Title I schools are required to maintain a Family-School Compact that outlines shared responsibilities for student achievement and to conduct an Annual Title I Meeting to inform families about the program and their opportunities for involvement. Together, these efforts help create a collaborative environment that supports student learning and success.

All Title I schools are required to jointly develop a School-Parent (Family-School) Compact with parents and families. The compact outlines the shared responsibilities of the school, parents, and students for supporting academic achievement. It describes how families, school staff, and students will work together to ensure students meet state academic standards and reach their full potential.

2025-26 Title 1 Family-School Compact

Title I schools must hold an Annual Title I Meeting to inform families about the school's participation in the Title I program, explain Title I requirements, describe how funds are used, review family engagement opportunities, and explain parents' rights to be involved in their child's education. This meeting provides families with important information about school programs, student support services, and ways to partner with the school to improve student achievement.
