FREE Workshop: Early Childhood Parent Toolkit

Join us Thursday, November 15th from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. as we explore the NEW ESC-20 Early Childhood Parent Plus+ Toolkit! Parent Plus + is an engaging set of activities for parents to use in playful learning with their preschool aged children. This training will train PARENTS to become actively involved in learning how to enhance student engagement with playful learning activities in the
home setting. The kit includes activities aligned with the PreKindergarten Guideline standards in math, reading, writing,
and language development.

Cole Homecoming Parade!

We hope you can join us this Friday, October 19th for the Cole Homecoming Festivities! The evening will start with a parade from the Youth Center, heading down Winans Rd. at 5:00 pm. Tailgate activities will follow in the stadium parking lot with fun, food, and entertainment. The game starts at 7:30 and all military members in uniform get in free. Come join the fun!

FREE Workshop: Unorganized, Unfocused, and Unprepared: The Impact of Executive Functioning Skills in the Classroom

Does your son or daughter have trouble organizing work, completing tasks, managing materials, managing time, paying attention or have social difficulties? These are all cognitive skills that are referred to as Executive Functioning Skills. Executive Functioning Skills greatly impact children’s achievement and are often an associated feature of
developmental or learning disabilities, or caused by a mismatch between a child’s neuro-developmental stage and the demands of their environment. This training on November 7th from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. will focus on ways in which parents and teachers can use appropriate strategies to support children’s developing executive skills, while helping improve academic performance.

Collection for VA Hospital & Homeless Veterans

In honor of our Veterans, Fort Sam Houston Elementary will be collecting items for the VA Hospital and Homeless Veterans as part of our outreach to our community. The attached list of items provide the hospitalized Veterans and homeless Veterans with basic hygiene kits and essentials.

Classes Participate in Journey North Symbolic Migration

The Symbolic Migration unites children across North America through the migration of symbolic ambassador butterflies. This fall 60,000 students across the globe will create symbolic monarch butterflies and send them to Mexico. Seven classes at FSHE participated: Mrs. Neal, Mrs. Shaw, Mrs. Wessies, Mrs. Ware, Mrs. DeLuna, Ms. Marchan, Mrs. Arriaga, and Dr. Morgan's classes. Children who live beside the monarchs’ winter sanctuaries in Mexico will protect the paper butterflies and return them in the spring.
