Vanessa Kennedy is currently a fourth grade teacher at Fort Sam Houston Elementary School. She has been teaching with  FSHISD for twenty-one years. She has been in the teaching profession for 37 years. Her teaching experiences have taken her from England, UK, where she was born, to Seoul, S. Korea, New York, and Texas. She is certified in the Fine Arts (Music/Drama), and is also a certified General Education teacher for grades 1 - 8. She holds a B.Ed. (Music/Drama) from Reading University (UK), and a M. Sc. (Elem. Ed.) from Long Island University.   She has added Texas Principal Certification, Certified Life Skills Coach, Gifted & Talented, Special Education & ESL (English Second Language) certification to her credentials.  She has also worked administratively in the district's ESY (Extended School Year) and Summer Enrichment programs.
  She was a recipient of the KENS 5/SACU Teacher of the Year Award from Southside ISD (2001), and the "Rampage Teacher of the Game" (FSHISD).   Her interests include singing, cooking, church-related activities, playing the piano, watching movies, reading, and traveling. She loves to teach and enjoys the challenge of developing successful outcomes with each student that she encounters. She is the proud mother of two sons, Marquette and Doniel, who both graduated from Texas State University.  Marquette is currently working as a Territory Sales Manager with Caterpillar Inc., and Doniel is a soldier in the US Army.
