Hi Cougar Cub Families!
At FSHES, learning goes beyond academics! Through our Character Education lessons, students develop essential life skills like responsibility, empathy, respect, and self-management. By focusing on character development, we help students build positive relationships, make thoughtful decisions, and create a supportive school community where everyone can thrive. This week, school counselors have started our responsibility-focused lessons.
The Green House's character trait of Responsibility aligns perfectly with the CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) framework under the core competency of Responsible Decision-Making in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).
How Responsibility correlates to SEL Competencies:
Responsible Decision-Making: This involves learning how to make positive choices about personal behavior and social interactions based on ethical standards, safety concerns, and social norms.
Self-Management: Responsibility requires students to demonstrate self-discipline, self-motivation, and the ability to set and achieve personal and academic goals.
Relationship Skills: Taking responsibility for one's actions is critical for restoring relationships when conflicts arise and building positive team dynamics.
RESOURCE:
Please reach out to your child's grade level counselor if you would like more program information or if you need any assistance and or support.
LOST AND FOUND: In an early effort to ensure your child’s jackets and sweaters get home; please label all items, jackets, sweaters, water bottle, lunch boxes, etc. with your child’s name and grade level.
