Message
Dear Cougar Cub Families,

I hope you are all having a wonderful week! First, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our PTO for hosting a fantastic Trunk or Treat. It was wonderful seeing so many of our students, staff, and families coming together to enjoy a fun and memorable evening.

Welcoming Families for Lunch
Beginning Monday, November 2, we are excited to welcome families back to join their children for lunch! This year, we will host family lunches on Mondays and Thursdays. Please keep the following guidelines in mind as we prepare for visitor lunches:

  • Quality Time: Lunch visits are designed to be quality time spent specifically between you and your child.
  • Classroom: To avoid disruption to learning time, we will not pull siblings or students from other grades to join. Additionally, friends and classmates will not be permitted to join you and your child.
  • Space Constraints: Due to limited space in the cafeteria, bulky items such as strollers will not be allowed.

Building Good Attendance Habits Early
As we continue through the semester, we want to emphasize the importance of regular school attendance. Starting in Kindergarten, missing 10% of school—or just 2 days a month—can create significant challenges in learning to read and cause children to fall behind academically. Developing good attendance habits early helps children thrive in school and eventually in the workplace.
Here are ways you can help make school attendance a priority in your home:
  1. Monitor & Address Concerns: Keep track of your child’s attendance and participation, and contact their teacher promptly if you have any questions or concerns.
  2. Stay Organized: Post your child’s daily class schedule and log-in information on the refrigerator or at your child’s desk so it is easily accessible.
  3. Promote Health: We encourage you to ensure your child receives their annual flu vaccine to stay healthy and minimize missed school days.
  4. Ensure Safety & Engagement: Check in with your child to see if they feel safe at school. Ensure that school discipline policies do not lead to your child feeling disengaged or pushed out of school; if these concerns arise, please work with us to find a collaborative solution.
  5. Support Emotional Well-Being: If your child seems bored or anxious about school, reach out to teachers, school counselors, or school administrators. We are here to help make your child feel safe, supported, and excited about learning.
  6. Ask for Help When Needed: You do not have to navigate challenges alone. School staff, after-school program providers, and community agencies are available to assist families with accessing online learning, obtaining food or housing, or addressing other obstacles that impact school participation.
Thank you for your continued support, partnership, and dedication to our students’ success. We look forward to seeing you at lunch visits soon!

Warm regards,

Julissa Fisher

Counselor Information
Dear Cougar Cub Parents & Families,

We hope everyone has been enjoying the cool mornings, it's finally starting to feel like Fall.
Here at FSHES we continuing to learn about trustworthiness! Being trustworthy means being someone others can count on. It’s about telling the truth, keeping promises, and doing the right thing—even when no one is watching.
At school, our students practice trustworthiness by being honest, keeping their word, taking care of others’ belongings, and owning their mistakes. These little choices help build strong friendships and create a classroom where everyone feels safe and respected.
Families play an important role in helping children develop this character trait, too! You can encourage trustworthiness at home by keeping promises, talking about the importance of honesty, and celebrating your child when they make responsible choices. Thank you for your continued support and collaborating with us. Please see the resources below.
Family Conversation Starter: Ask your child, “What is one thing you did today that showed someone they could trust you?”

*Parent Optional Form, to NOT have their child participate in the character lesson by the school counselor: https://forms.gle/TRzmVww1zYrz3ukeA

LOST AND FOUND: In an early effort to ensure your child’s belongings get home; please label all items, jackets, sweaters, water bottle, lunch boxes, etc. with your child’s name and grade level.
