Weekly Schedule

You can find me out in room 4 conducting gifted/talented research sessions during the following time blocks:

8:00-8:45        4th Grade
8:50-9:35        1st Grade
9:40-10:25      2nd Grade
12:45-1:25      3rd Grade
1:35-2:05        Kinder
2:15-3:00        5th Grade

I work with the safety patrol from 7:10-7:45 and on Fridays I meet with Student Council from 1:30-2:15.  The rest of the day, I can be found in a variety of classrooms across campus.  My schedule adjusts to meet the needs of our at-risk student population.

3rd grade followed a super old recipe for candied dates that was found in an Egyptian tomb. It began with making a paste out of dates, spices and water. They weren't too keen about the process at first!!  
After they made the paste from dates and spices, they rolled it into balls and dredged the balls through honey and almonds.
4th grade enigma presentations are almost complete. We have  been learning about so many bizarre things!!  When we return in January we will wrap it up   with presentations on mermaids, the Loch Ness monster, Anastasia, Easter Island and Stonehenge. 
5th grade did a great job with their musculoskeletal mini-dissection. If anyone needs help skinning their chicken for dinner, these guys are ready!!! 
2nd graders had fun with their Christmas presents. :- )   It is totally okay to turn them loose in your yard!!
Our budding zoologists have begun their invertebrate labs. Worm lab complete... gryllus lab is our next adventure!!

4th Grade Enigma Phase I Research due Tuesday!

Don't forget!!  Finally, after 5 weeks of research, your Phase I research packet is due on Tuesday.  I cannot wait to learn about all of your interesting enigmas!! Please check your work to be sure that you have everything ready. Use the Writing Rubric to make sure that you are turning in quality work. Here is what needs to be turned in by Tuesday:
 
1-Research Topic Proposal
2- How do two different sciences explain your enigma?
3-Enigma Poster
4-Bibliography (at least two sources)
5-Double spaced, typed  paper that describes  your enigma (must be at least one page, should be 12 or 14 font) This must be written in your own words!!
6- Quiz (5 questions)
 
If you are unsure about any of these items, please refer to the ENIGMAS PHASE I INDEPENDENT RESEARCH that is attached below.

ENIGMAS Phase I - Independent Research

I am so excited to hear what you find out about your enigma!!!  We will complete your poster and the "How Do Scientists Explain Your Enigma?" page in class. Those will only become homework if you do not manage your time well.           
 
*** *Your bibliography, with at least two sources, is due on Thursday, November 15th.   Your final paper is due in a month.
4th graders competed in a Thesis Statement Challenge to hone their writing skills. I am looking forward to some awesome thesis statements when they turn in their Enigma research papers next week!!!
